The Quilter’s Lodge is always looking for quilters to make sample quilts. Sample quilts are used to spotlight kits, fabric lines, patterns, designers, and our creativity. We create quilt kits of all types to represent the diversity of The Quilter’s Lodge. Having our own curated samples of our kits, rather than the same sample as every other store, makes us unique and draws customers to our store.

Key responsibilities:

Our samples are part of the first impression customers make as they enter The Quilter’s Lodge. Because of this, samples will be inspected for quality workmanship. We will pay particular attention to 1/4” seams, nested blocks, accurate points on stars and flying geese, straightness of stripes, ginghams, and plaids, flat non-wavy borders, and adherence to the pattern and supplemental instructions. You will be provided with extra fabric to square up stripes, ginghams, plaids, and directional patterns.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience making quilts – We need samples of all types of quilts, beginner friendly to advanced. You chose the difficulty of the sample quilt you are confident you can make.
• Strong piecing and sewing skillsExcellent attention to detail and color/placement accuracy.
• Ability to read and follow patterns
• Good time management — able to meet deadlines for sample delivery.
• Knowledge of pressing techniques and fabric handling.
• Quilting of finished quilt tops will be done by The Quilter’s Lodge

 Compensation:

There are two options for sample quilt making: make and keep or make for store credit.

Work schedule & environment:

• You would work in the comfort of your own home, piecing and sewing on your machine sewing on your own schedule working to complete the sample quilts in the time frames listed with the project.
