Quiet Books Workshop with Linda Stocking



Come and join Linda as she teaches you how to make an amazing new QUIET BOOK! Step by step instructions beginning with coloring and blending fabric markers, fabric crayons and some crayola crayons. She will teach how to use contrasting colors to get a vibrant look.  Step by step instructions to reinforcing pages and page pieces using Pellon products for durability. She will teach you how to reinforce different types of buttons, what stitches are best for durability & looks and when to use each of them. Learn how to embellish any of her 116 different pages with fabrics, buttons, rick-rack, yarn, reinforcing/iron different materials & card stock to fabrics, etc... Come and learn her tricks and tips of 33 years of making beautiful and durable Quiet Books! She is a hands on teacher and will sew and color with you! Check out her secret pockets for additional fun learning and teaching!  At each class Linda will help you with any of the packets/pages that you purchase.

This class will focus on the following 10 pages:

1. - 2. String a "Fruit Hoop" necklace. - Cereal bowl pocket with "fabric fruit hoops" to string onto a shoe lace (necklace). Treat pocket for cereal.
3. - What are little girls made of? - Removable purse for little girl's stuff. Mirror, comb, chap stick, necklace, bracelet, earrings, candy necklace etc.
4. - What are little boys made of? - Removable car garage for boy's stuff. Car map and car(s), small plastic animals, treat pocket etc.
5. - 6. "I Spy" quilt match up. - Match up fabrics and pictures. 18 different fabric pockets with 18 tags to match up. Example: beehive tag - bee fabric pocket, chicken tag - egg fabric pocket, trumpet tag - music fabric pocket, flower tag - grass fabric pocket, snowman tag - snowflake fabric pocket, etc. These 18 different fabrics (reinforced and ready to cut out) can be purchased at the class from the teacher. 
7. - Take a good look, at your new book. - Your choice of a story book on a book worm page.
8. - 9. What can you spell? - Help a child to spell. Two soup bowl pockets with 2 sets of letters and a spoon inside to spell words.
10. - Grandfather Clock goes "Tick" "Tock". - Help a child learn to tell time. Clock pocket with 20 clock pieces to set the time on the clock.

I'm a mom become grandma who loves children and teaching them in creative ways. Designing quiet books has been a life-long passion of 33 years that has evolved as one of the loves of my life. My art work is pre-printed onto heavy-duty pellon and ready to color! Coloring is in and the old-fashioned/time consuming way is out!  Let me share what I've learned with you!
