Comprehensive Beginning Quilting Class: 7-Week Series
Take your basic skills to the next level! Learn a simple block and then build on your skills. In addition to new blocks, you will also cover how color choices effect the design and focus of the block. These fundamentals will open you up to the wonderful world of quilting.
This course is designed to help the beginning quilter gain confidence with piecing skills. Students will learn to read a pattern, fabric care, ironing techniques and much more. By the end of your 7 week course, you will have your finished top complete!
Fabric requirements, pattern and supply list will be given in class. After learning about fabric selection, our staff will help students pick out fabrics in the store for their project. Please bring your sewing machine the first day of class.
Mary Cowan - is a well loved teacher at The Quilter's Lodge. She has been quilting for over 26 years. Her love for fabric, sewing and quilting has evolved over the years, into designing her own patterns. Her pattern company is called Mary's Cottage Quilts and is named after a family owned cottage in upstate New York. Mary has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree specializing in graphic design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Mary says "It is a great feeling to create a design that other quilters can get excited about and want to make for their family. I feel that if I can get others excited to create, choose fabric, and put something together that can be a family heirloom to them, then I have succeeded in my goal".
